Posted by Kaka in Trends on Tuesday, July 12, 2011
H&M, one of my go to store for fashion and inspirations, Ann-Sofie Johansson - Head of Design, gives us a preview of what's up and coming for Autumn/Winter 2011 season. I frequent the Europe and New York locations but am happy we finally got one here in the Dallas area too. But the Europe locations are always the best - love the assortments they offer which is a wider range and also people watching, love the fashionistas who shop there.

1. Minimalism takes an even cleaner approach – precise cuts and no details. Think simple coats and straight wide trousers in smooth, flat fabrics with a thin belt as the only accessory.
2. Old-fashioned glamour never looked so fresh. Classic and feminine silhouettes from the 1940s and 50s, like shrunken cardigans and wide skirts, are effortlessly offset by sparkling costume jewellery.
3. The 70s are still with us, but this time it’s more elegant and grown-up. Warm, rich tones such as cognac, burgundy and rust dominate, as do calf-length skirts and blouses.
4. A youthquake struck in the 1960s, but the aftershocks are just as strong today. Fun and spirited, short straight shift dresses, polo shirts and cropped skinny trousers come in an array of bold colours.
5. Head to the Arctic Circle this Autumn/Winter and take sartorial cues from cultures of the northern climes. Pile on the layers of knitwear then top it off with a parka and warm boots.
6. Decorative and sumptuous, we look to the 1920s for fashion flair. Boudoir-inspired fabrics such as silk georgette and silk satin are artfully cut, draped and detailed into gorgeous jackets and dresses.
