   TEXWORLD TRENDS

"ACTING" - The garment is a disguise that we wear on top of our personality.

Lets take a closer look…

The garment is an extension of our personality; it is the reflection of our     desire to be. It modulates our relationship with others by our appearance.
To be?  Yes, but to appear in what form? That is the question.
Our desire of transparency towards others is not simple. The reflection of ourselves starts in the mirror of our personality and with the fatal question: WHO do we want to be?
In our contemporary and globalized society, reality often mixes with the fiction in our life.  Our virtual appearances serve our real personality. Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and other social networks are great examples of that.
The course of the Spring/Summer 2013 explores the desire to show beyond reality, the desire of play.

PLAY, FIND, BE, UPGRADE, LIVE:  ACT!

5 Acts of a play directed by us and for us. Where we become our avatar.

>>FEATURED TEXTILE AND SURFACE DESIGNER - JENNI WILLSON

Featured Textile and Surface Designer is Jenni Willson.  She currently lives in her hometown Plymouth, UK but travels around the UK and overseas as often as she can for different sources of inspiration. She  lived in Bath, UK for her degree and found with Bristol and London just up the road, she had plenty of opportunities to take photos of different surfaces. She recently just got back from Australia and have found it the most inspiring place yet and is currently working on some pieces inspired by amazing peeling posters and colourful old graffiti

The surfaces of her work are very textured and the inspiration for this mainly comes from deterioration on buildings and graffiti. She takes photos of peeled posters, old cracked walls and then recreates them using acrylic paint, different papers, old books, glue and chalks with indian ink. she likes her work to be quite raw and organic like the images she works from and to have people interact with these pieces.

She enjoys getting out and about with her camera and going to any art/textile exhibitions and local events like vintage fairs and craft events.

Check out her visually inspiring blogjenniwillsontextiles.blogspot.com.  I love how she takes her inspirations she beautifully takes pictures of and extends her great eye and talent thru her own work. She is also available for freelance work and is listed on FV's directory if you wish to contact her.
