>>FEATURED TEXTILE AND SURFACE DESIGNER - JENNI WILLSON

Featured Textile and Surface Designer is Jenni Willson.  She currently lives in her hometown Plymouth, UK but travels around the UK and overseas as often as she can for different sources of inspiration. She  lived in Bath, UK for her degree and found with Bristol and London just up the road, she had plenty of opportunities to take photos of different surfaces. She recently just got back from Australia and have found it the most inspiring place yet and is currently working on some pieces inspired by amazing peeling posters and colourful old graffiti

The surfaces of her work are very textured and the inspiration for this mainly comes from deterioration on buildings and graffiti. She takes photos of peeled posters, old cracked walls and then recreates them using acrylic paint, different papers, old books, glue and chalks with indian ink. she likes her work to be quite raw and organic like the images she works from and to have people interact with these pieces.

She enjoys getting out and about with her camera and going to any art/textile exhibitions and local events like vintage fairs and craft events.

Check out her visually inspiring blogjenniwillsontextiles.blogspot.com.  I love how she takes her inspirations she beautifully takes pictures of and extends her great eye and talent thru her own work. She is also available for freelance work and is listed on FV's directory if you wish to contact her.

>>DESIGN CONTEST - BETA FASHION'S PAISLEY PROJECT

Here is Beta Fashion's latest design contest, PAISLEY PROJECT

PAISLEY PROJECT
Paisley designs have long been a staple in the fashion world and this year have made a resurgence on the catwalk having been used by the likes of Stella McCartney, JW Anderson, Jil Sander and many more in their SS12 collections. From busy and colourful, to stark and minimalist, there's no end to ways in which this simple motif can be interpreted and reinvented. For this months project we want you to come up with your own interpretations, creating beautiful and unique designs to be used on our range of silk and wool scarves.

4 winners will be selected, each receiving £300 cash and seeing their designs produced and sold in our online store, Topshop, Topshop.com and more.

Project submission deadline: April 7, 2012.
