>>FEATURE - ARTIST/ILLUSTRATOR . ANNE QUADFLIEG
Posted by Kaka in Features on Wednesday, October 3, 2012
Our featured Artist/Illustrator is Anne Quadflieg who lives in Hamburgs Sternschanze, Germany. I love how she incorporates an organic twist to some of her work with the use of elements from nature and dimensions to her illustrations. She is quite talented illustrating in different mediums and styles which gives her the satisfaction to continue to offer more than just one specific illustration style. Many of her inspirations are from strolling over fleamarkets and old books.

>>FEATURED ARTIST - RACHEL CLORE
Posted by Kaka in Features on Thursday, August 23, 2012
Freshly graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland, Rachel Clore is a budding textile designer. Her most recent works have been inspired by her experiences while living and studying traditional tie and dye techniques in India.
While living in India, Rachel was inspired by everything—the vibrant markets and bazaars of bustling New Delhi, birds (most often the colorful Kingfisher), mangoes, chikoo (a delicious fruit), ornate gold jewelry and temple architecture, electric color, painted elephants, marigolds and other flowers, truck decoration, decoration in every sphere, and the people she encountered every day.
Upon returning home to the United States, the culture clash forced Rachel to examine her most vivid memories. Her memories, sketchbook pages, paper clippings, photographs, and writings then helped inform the creation of digital repeats for fabric. As time passes, Rachel has turned again and again to thoughts of color, food, and the mesmerizing visual clutter that embodies India’s energy and spirit.

K A T E L Y N C H is a recent graduate specializing in Digital Printed Textiles from the Buckinghamshire New University, located in the UK. She has a passion for all things design: textiles, fashion, interiors and illustration. If she is designing, she is happiest and she uses many different techniques to create her designs such as pencil drawing, painting and photoshop.
Throughout her time at the university she has had the priviledge to work on a two week placement at Baxter Fawcett Design Studio, and be involved in two live briefs from Marson Fabrics and Stylesight.
Her collection below consists of many three-dimensional designs by the use of created 3d shapes from an animation program along with a couple of her fashion illustrations.
She has a wonderful talent and a great eye, check out her blog lynchkate.blogspot.com and her website, katel.moonfruit.com. She is currently also available for hire at this time as well.
noun: the beginning of a new period marked by radical changes and new developments.
My degree collection of textile prints has a huge digital concept. Unfolding itself from the influence and inspiration of astronomy, the collection took a turn from 2D illustrations of star constellations and into beautiful, graphic 3D forms by use of animation program 3D Studio Max.
A digital collection for a digital world. EPOCH.

Featured artist is Surface Pattern Designer and Illustrator Kat Spencer. Her featured work are some of my favorite ones, so colorful, bold and beautifully done. I also love how she applies her prints on sketch line drawings so you can view her intended application. Her work is distinctive with her unique approach of modernising traditional cultural motifs. The media she uses to create her designs starts with photography, pen and ink illustrations taken from nature. She then applies a combination of hand crafting techniques, using inks, beads and stitch work.
Kat is also very skilled in advanced CAD techniques using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
